There are many trailers for Batman: Arkham Asylum out now. Batman fighting singing skeletons. Batman in lock down mode in Arkham. All of which have sold me on the new release which promises to do what the Dark Knight did for comic book movies to video games. However, what has gotten me the most excited (and possibly an XBOX 360) is the following trailer featuring the Joker's significant other Harley Quinn. Who since her introduction in the children's cartoon adaptation of Batman won me over in the 90s when I was just a little fangirl.

There are really three reasons Harley has always been my favorite Batman girl:

1) Her and her man may not have the healthiest of relationships but they do love each other. Instead of the ambiguity of right and wrong that Catwoman and Batman represent, Joker and Harley are just those people to as Nolan's Alfred put it so perfectly love to "watch the world burn". They are a male and female equivalent of each other that is so perfect yet so wrong.

2) Harley is herself always her ditsy, crazy, oddly alluring self. Crazy as she was even Gotham's most powerful resident baddie couldn't deny her charm. Joker loved Harley for who she is ya gotta admire a women who courts a madman, who subsequently falls for her. She's got guts.

3) Her personality is a little deceiving. On her surface she seems like the type of girl that could easily be used but not our Harley. As much as she is insane she is capable. We've seen her compliment her man on the cartoon but also hold her own schemes together in the comics. Plus, her and BFF Ivy make the best chick equivalent to the bormance in recent years. I mean together they are the evil team equivalent of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Go Ask Alice

The new trailer for Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland is out today. It features, as you may have already guessed, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. In addition to Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman, Micheal Sheen, Stephen Fry and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. Check out the trailer below for your viewing pleasure:



I really don't know how to feel about this movie. Alice in Wonderland was always one of my favorite movies as a child and it is only until recently I picked up the book. I love both the novel and Burton but perhaps my inner fangirl has decided to hate book to movie adaptation. (Since I heard rumors that Shia Labeouf is going to be in Death: THCOL.) But Burton looks to be taking Alice somewhere dark and Hot Topic-esque, which I am all for. At least Disney didn't leave out the White Queen the second time around.

All this has me asking some questions: Should Burton have done Alice and Wonderland? Why? Why not? What would you like to see Burton get his Robert Smith loving Goth hands on?

Baby Tube

One of the simple pleasures of staying home and doing nothing is watching television in an empty house. One of the negatives of this is also that you inevitably, whether caused by the lack of normal programming in the early hours of the morning or the lack of roommates, watch a show you would normally never watch. For my sister it was A Haunting, a discovery program, about haunted houses, which she follows up with Paranormal state. Her own little slice of poltergeist riddled daytime fun. Oh how she loves her little ghost hunting boys.

I always end up watching the "baby block" on Discovery Health. An hour of labor pains and adoption papers the "baby block" is made up of two of the most ovulation inducing programs on air, Adoption Stories and Deliver Me.

Not to be misunderstood I adore children but I also fear them. A part time tutor all through my high school career I can attest that small children scare me. The tutoring was not my choice my mother had decided that because of my grades and patience she thought I would work well with children. She signed me up as a tutor at the grammar school attached to my catholic high school. Where I, for the better part of my high school career tutored first through sixth graders.

Why do children bother me you ask? Well first off they are loud, messy and think that help with their homework means they can con you into doing their homework. What frightens me most about children though is their honesty. Adults will lie to you whereas children will be honest. I have a love/hate relationship with that because as someone who is neurotic to the point where Woody Allen would tell me to calm down, sometimes the truth just is not the wisest option with me.

But there are those times for me like every women where the sight of a new born and a happy couple ready to be parents makes me forget my children phobic ways. I don't know but baby programs have the same effect on me as America's Next Top Model. I know I probably could not stand doing it but that doesn't stop me from attempting to make my eyes smile in my bathroom mirror when I get bored. I wouldn't seek that kind of fulfillment on my own I just needed to be reminded that it is always a possibility.
